Originating in Amaurot, Yrsala's parents worked in Elpis. Not being certain of the future after Zodiark's creation, they fled following Hydaelyn's summoning. They [somehow] ended up on the first reflection after the sundering. Upon living in Lakeland's surrounding areas, they discovered a means to alter not only their appearance like they are used to doing, but alter their biological data, called a phial of Fantasia. In an effort to escape their past, they became Au Ra, or Drahn, as they were known in the First. After a while, they conceived an Auri daughter, whom they named Yrsala. For 6 years did they live in Lakeland, but soon after grew homesick. Thinking it was closer to their homelands they were used to, they [somehow] managed their way to the Source.Taking on the surname Edelweiss to lose any suspicions, they quickly found that things were not as they were used to. They were both similar and different from the First, but more habitable for their daughter, given more cities and towns than simple settlements.Years later, after a severe migraine followed by blurry vision and a blackout, Yrsala woke in Thanalan in the care of healers, having forgotten the bulk of her past. All she remembered was growing up with her parents in a woodsy village near a brook, though blurry as well. She loved to paint and sing and dance, but never was allowed to leave the confines of the woods. She always wanted to explore and have adventures, which is what led her to Ul'dah. She was told she was found fainted, and upon being questioned, not much was there to be told. Nothing more than broken bits and pieces, scattered to the winds. With no recognition in her mind of her parents or where she came from, she wondered how she arrived so close to her destination of Ul'dah.

✧ I love a good slow burn, so technically there are 2 concurrent AUs in my mind: the one where G'raha and Yrsala are together, and the one where I torture myself and make them both have feelings for the other and just not (yet) act on them, but pine after. Ah, a favorite trope of mine...✧ My head has been having thoughts of YrsZenos as well, since Feb 2023, and it's unrelenting. G'raha is very similar in ways to Yrsala, but Zenos, being similar and so different, is a fun character to pair with her, especially considering how empathic she can be. It's also very fun to explore possible relationships or budding romances between the two, and trying to understand how Zenos would be in all of it. I also enjoy making people soft when it comes to someone they care about, and in this case, I love making Zenos soft at times.✧ I also want to mention I support polyamorous pairings, because some people have the capacity to love multiple people at once, and that's so beautiful! That being said, I don't think I could ever find myself able to be in a poly relationship, and Yrsala, being a self-insert of sorts, wouldn't either. So as much as I love G'yrsahla and YrsZenos, I can't imagine a ship of all 3 together. (Especially considering I can't imagine a world, at this time, where G'raha and Zenos could cohabitate peacefully, or be okay with someone else with her, if that makes sense. G'raha would be probably more on the okay side if it made her happy, but Zenos might be somewhat possessive. Who knows!)

✧ Miscellaneous: ✧
✧ Her age is ambiguous, as she (or everyone) was sent forward 5 years in 1.0. (I read that somewhere, forgive me if I'm wrong). I consider her about 24 years of age, regardless. I do not age her unless there will be a time skip at some point, and other ages are bumped up.✧ Yrsala may have been born on the first reflection, but her soul was tied to that of Etheirys, due to it originally being the Ancients’ only star. This bypasses questions regarding Ardbert being a sundered shard of Azem, as there can’t be two souls on the first who are shards. (I know that it seems impossible for her parents to have been unsundered despite the sundering of Etheirys and their daughter, but nothing is impossible for Azem.)✧ Upon receiving the blessing of the echo, vague memories flooded her mind of Elpis from her parents and Lakeland from both them and her younger self. However, her amnesia worsened, and caused her a lot of stress, which in turn caused confusion upon entering the areas, feeling a sense of familiarity to them both, but not understanding why.✧ Due to her Azem's, Seren, soul merging with hers, she has faint and vague memories that interfere with her own, and the same can be said of hers to Seren's. [Seren was the original daughter who was totally sundered choosing neither side, according to official lore from the wiki.]✧ Seren was in a romantic relationship of sorts with Hythlodaeus, so there are some pains felt when he dissipated in Ultima Thule, as well as when his memories were wiped by Kairos, though Yrsala had no idea why she felt so strongly as she had.✧ Yrsala has no recollection of being on the First, nor having heard of the reflections until she learned of them in the main story. Not to mention due to the fluctuation of time, Lakeland and its surrounding areas were almost completely different from how she would remember. [There may be discrepancies in time that allow or disallow certain things in my lore, but since we don't know the official time situation, I feel I can get away with it for now.]✧ Having an abundance of aether turned her left eye into a purple hue, rather than the pink of her right. This created a blockage of aether that, in a sense, wiped her past from her memory. It also holds immense power. Don't ask why Y'shtola hasn't mentioned it.✧ She experiences frequent bouts of anxiety but tries to hide it well. The pressure from getting in too deep in adventuring, and becoming the Warrior of Light, awoke the beast within her. She sometimes needs time to process events that happen.
